Bacteria get the blame for cellulitis - News

Q: It took visiting four different doctors to get an accurate diagnosis of cellulitis. From what I’ve read, that’s pretty common. There are many troubling things about it, including recurrence. Would you please cover it in your column?

A: Cellulitis is a condition that occurs when bacteria find a way into the deeper layers of the skin and the layer of fat just beneath them, causing a spreading infection. (This has nothing to do with cellulite, a term for areas of skin that appear lumpy or dimpled due to subcutaneous fat distribution.)

Most often, cellulitis is caused by the strep or staph bacteria that are naturally present on the skin’s surface. Many other bacteria can cause the condition, too. In cellulitis, bacteria typically enter the body through breaks, cracks, cuts or abrasions to the skin. Conditions such as athlete’s foot, psoriasis, eczema, shingles and even dry skin can also provide entry points. Individuals with lymphedema, which is the buildup of fluid in soft body tissues due to damage or blockage in the lymphatic system, and edema, which is swelling due to excess fluids trapped beneath the skin, are also at higher risk.

cellulite questions please helppp?

Im not fat but for some reason i have alot of cellulite on my upper thigh/butt area. Does massaging that area every night help eliminate the cellulite? And i know that i also need to do cardio, sqauts, drinks lots of water etc which i am doing. thanks

I don't think that massage is the way to go necessarily. Dry brushing worked for me. Some types of spa treatments use massage: http://www.cellulitetreatment.org/massag er.html

The idea is to increase circulation to the area that has cellulite.

YES IT HELPS SO MUCH! I do it all the time and mine is minimal, I have had the same problem. Use lotion when you do it though not to cause stretch marks.

Getting rid of celluite is definitely difficult, but possible, i know first-hand!...It's basically bad toxins that's stored under your skin...so you have to drink tons of water and try and exfoliation brush that you can use to 'scrub' your skin with..

Cellulite is mostly in your genetics.
The only way to get rid of it is surgery, unless you have massive amounts, (obesity), and you lose a ton of weight.
