European panel backs Janssen's psoriasis drug

(Reuters) - A European Medicines Agency (EMA) panel recommended the approval of Johnson & Johnson unit Janssen’s drug, guselkumab, for the treatment of plaque psoriasis in adults.

Guselkumab, which will be marketed as Tremfya, will be used to treat adults with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis, a chronic, autoimmune inflammatory disorder that results in sometimes painful, unsightly scaly and inflamed patches on the skin.

The EMA’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CMPH) said the drug’s benefits were its ability to inhibit the inflammation and clinical symptoms associated with the disorder.

CMPH’s opinions are normally endorsed by the European Commission within a couple of months.

The drug, which Janssen had licensed from German biotech group Morphosys, got the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s blessing in July.

The drug is administered by injection and will be an alternative for patients who do not respond to existing treatments, Janssen had said.

Hi, has anyone tried the Raptiva injection or Enbrel injection for Psoriasis?

If so how did they find it? Did you have any nasty side-effects? I'm really sick of it, tried loads of treatments......

I take the Raptiva injection every week. There are side effects, but I've been on it for six weeks and have had WONDERFUL success. I had large thick lesions of psoriasis. Every one of them is drastically improving. I no longer scale (yuuuckk) Raptiva

Has anyone had Amevive or Enbrel treatments for psoriasis?

I have been given the option of taking Amevive or Enbrel for psoriasis by my doctor. I have heard all the information (side effects, and such) and I would really like to hear from people that have actually used it ....how it worked for them and so on.

I am exploring the same possibility. My mom takes enbrel for arthritis and when she explained to me how th drug worked I said, that sounds like it would work on psoriasis! She told me that the little bit she had on her leg and elbows had dissappeared
