HEALTH: Warm weather, strong winds create a 'perfect allergy storm'

Allergies, however, may note sneezing, dripping noses, itchy hives and an increased cough, with unlimited mucous, and hang around for a month. Offenberger recommended over-the-counter antihistamines such as Claritin, Allegra or Zyrtec, or their generic

Question About AntiHistamine Side Effects of Diarrhea/Abdominal Pain (Claritin & Zyrtec)?

I have a chronic hives condition (called Cholinergic Urticaria).

I have taken Zyrtec before, and it provides a little relief from the itching and hives. However, I have recently noticed that it is causing me stomach pain and diarrhea.

Different antihistamines can give different side effects. Your best bet is to simply try it yourself to see if it causes you stomach pain.

Good luck.

Which is better for food allergies and eczema? Benadryl or Claritin?

I need to keep a box just in case I get an minor allergy to food (hives), or if I get an eczema episode because of external triggers (soaps, weather, etc.).

Of course I have creams for eczema, but my doctor suggested I use an anti-histamine

Benadryl is good to stop allergic reactions and has a long track record of safety. However it does cause drowsiness and can build up in the liver over time.Clariton is better for seasonal allergies. But avoidance is the best treatment for all allergies
