Men tolerate stress incontinence years before seeking help

, Calls on men's general practitioners and urologists to perform a standing cough test, in which a patient coughs while the doctor watches for any accidental urine release, as a routine part of their male patients' physicals.

"Our goal is to spread the word that effective and safe treatments exist for men with stress urinary incontinence, but also to facilitate an immediate and accurate diagnosis among stress urinary incontinence patients," said Dr. Joceline Fuchs, Assistant Instructor of Urology and first author of the study.

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) occurs when physical activity or exertion - a cough, heavy lifting, exercise - causes the bladder to leak urine. About 13 million Americans suffer from some degree of incontinence, with women accounting for 85 percent of cases. However, some men who have had prostate cancer treatments involving surgery (prostatectomies) develop the condition.

Even though men are slow to complain, "Male SUI is rare but is known to have significant negative psychosocial and emotional effects and represents a common reason for post-treatment anxiety and depression," said Dr. Allen Morey, Professor of Urology at UT Southwestern and senior author of the study.

Feminine protection napkins are called maxi pads, so for men who have bladder control issues wouldn't they be?

called masculine protection napkins?
If so then the masculine name would be max pads.

If men had to wear max pads once a month, the day would be a holiday! LOL

I thought they were called condoms ? Oh well, whatever gets the job done ! It's probably called adult diapers.

maxi pads are for menstruation - not bladder control issues.

Man Versus Woman - Bladder Control?

I find that as a man, I have the urge to urinate, and becuae of my job, sometimes I hold it for a few hours. Is this a man's thing or do women have the same issue?

YOUR BLADDER IS GOING TO EXPLODE!

i can hold me piss for nineteen day straight

Men aren't the only ones that have that problem us women do too. When we are doing something that kind of takes our time like what you said "work" we tend to hold it for a few hours.
