Huntington Housing Authority bans smoking on all properties

A Huntington Housing Authority smoking ban went into effect over the weekend, creating a split household between Vickie Mitchell and Eric Zeigher in one Marcum Terrace apartment.

Mitchell said she has smoked for decades, while Zeighler put the packs down five years ago.

The ban covered all renters and guests in 855 units across the city, mandating no smoking of any kind inside or in communal areas.

“I just don’t like the thought of, first thing in the morning if I’m here, you take your morning coffee and meander out to the main road,” Mitchell said. “That bothers me.”

Housing Authority Director Vickie Lester said the rule comes from the federal level.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development commanded them to make the rule several years ago and gave a July 1 deadline for implementation.

They said it was for the health and safety of tenants.

“It’s a good thing,” Zeighler said. “If you smoke a couple less cigarettes, your lungs will like you more.”

They do work, if you use the right ones and are sufficiently motivated. There is no good way to quit cold turkey -- if you aren't very addicted, it will work, if you are, you will fail. I suggest you try the Commit lozenges, which are more effective than

Is there any way to get discounts on stop smoking aids?

my friend is looking into ways to stop smoking and I was looking for things to help her out, all of it is really expensive.
Is there anything that is a little more affordable.
She's 15, she really can't afford 60$ patches.

I know, right? But if you figure it out, it's about the same cost as the cigarettes. It's too bad someone doesn't sell them a day at a time the way they sell cigs.

I think the gum is cheapest. The lozenges are best. In both cases, you use what you need. I use the 4 mg lozenges and cut them in half, it's enough for me and they're cheap since they go twice as far.
