Whey Protein/Weight Loss pills.?

Hey everyone,
I am currently 17 years old and weigh 185 pounds. I do have a lot of muscle, but most of my body weight is fat. I'm starting to workout tomorrow and I'm on a workout schedule/meal plan. My question is, Is it okay to take Whey Protein

I've been told that those weight lost supplements are a waste of money.
Personally I would save your money and not risk harming your self with shit supplements.
Just do what your doing but exercise 30mins everyday, eat healthly.

You don't need weight loss pills, just cut calories and get 30 min of exercise 5 days a week. Whey protein is just protein but because it's liquid it gets absorbed faster and is ideal for worn out muscles after lifting, if you're trying to lose weight,

Whey Protein/weight loss?

Does any one know if Whey Protein help you lose weight? If so, how should it be taken? Just in water? In a smoothie, a shake? I'm hoping I can use it as a smoothie or shake so that I can use it as a meal replacement, or something to take before of AFTER

No protein powders are good for weight loss- my brother is a body builder and he drinks protein shakes to PUT ON weight. Whey especially will make you gain weight.

I guess it all depends on what you are replacing with the shake. If you are eating it instead of a high calorie, high fat meal then chances are you will lose weight. If you are simply adding it as an extra source of protein, it's doubtful.
