Device that prevents hair loss for cancer patients may become available in U.S. The DigniCap, a Swedish insigne that has been successfully used in Europe since 1999, but is not used in the United States, may become handy in 2015. What lies ahead in the chemo hair-after?

What lies ahead in the chemo hair-after? Not all chemo makes us run out of our hair. “Radiation only causes hair loss in the area where it's being delivered,” Padula said. “It may or may not attain maturity back.” Most of us who do lose our hair get some peach fuzz roughly three to four weeks after chemo

UCLA Tests New Device That May Save Patient's Hair During Chemotherapy

A new machinery is being tested on breast cancer patients at UCLA Medical Center and it may guard their hair. DigniCap is a cold cap that cools the patient's scalp during and after chemotherapy, which researchers say restricts blood issue and reduces hair loss.

Revolutionary hair growth formula QR678 developed and patented by Indian doctor!

Specializing in Cosmetic Dermatology, Dermatology and Skin Lasers, Dr Rinky Kapoor from Fortis’ SL Raheja Hospital has recently acquired the US patent for a hair growth formula named the ‘ QR678 ’. The molecules in QR678 help in stimulation and regrowth of the hair, which is helpful for people with different types of hair loss, including those who have undergone Chemotherapy. Intra-dermal injections of this hair formulation are a promising option for treating male as well as female patterns of hair loss, or for treating patients who have continuing hair loss, post hair transplant surgery and those who have lost hair post Chemotherapy.

A study was conducted where 1000 (680 males & 320 females) patients between the age group of 20-60yrs, who were given intradermal injections of a hair formulation, into the scalp skin, for hair loss. Hair Pull Test (to determine how tightly the hair is anchored) was performed, before every session. Video-microscopic

hair regrowth after chemo?

just wandering abut peoples' experience with the regrowth of their hair after chemo.

It took my mother about 6 months to regrow all of her hair. She had cancer and all of her hair fell out. So did all my aunts. One of them never regrew their hair at all. So I think it does vary from person to person.

Hair regrowth after chemo... different color?

Although I know some people's hair regrows the same as it was before chemo, and others have a completely random other color... but, if my hair was thick, curly, and dark blonde before chemo, what would you guess the color and texture to be when it does

I lost some of my hair to radiation, none to chemo but my hair grew back just a little darker, a little thicker, a little wavier and no gray. So there's a spot right on top that has a little gray because I didn't lose any of that hair.

The color can and often does change, it could very well be bleached blonde. See attached link for more info.
