What lies ahead in the chemo hair-after? Not all chemo makes us run out of our hair. “Radiation only causes hair loss in the area where it's being delivered,” Padula said. “It may or may not attain maturity back.” Most of us who do lose our hair get some peach fuzz roughly three to four weeks after chemo

UCLA Tests New Device That May Save Patient's Hair During Chemotherapy

A new machinery is being tested on breast cancer patients at UCLA Medical Center and it may guard their hair. DigniCap is a cold cap that cools the patient's scalp during and after chemotherapy, which researchers say restricts blood issue and reduces hair loss.

FDA Expands Indication for Scalp Cooling System to Include All Solid Tumors

The FDA has expanded the indication for the Orbis Paxman Hair Loss Cooling System to prevent chemotherapy-related alopecia in patients with solid tumors, device maker Paxman has announced. The system was approved last year to treat chemotherapy-related alopecia in patients with breast cancer.

In a statement, the company said the expanded approval will increase the number of newly diagnosed patients who can use the system from roughly 250,000 per year to more than 1 million.

“Scalp cooling has been a real game changer for so many of our patients with breast cancer, minimizing the risk of one of the most dreaded side effects of chemotherapy,” Steven J. Isakoff, MD, PhD, a clinical and translational investigator in the breast oncology center at Massachusetts General Hospital, said in a press release. “We are already working on plans to make this available to all of our patients

It took my mother about 6 months to regrow all of her hair. She had cancer and all of her hair fell out. So did all my aunts. One of them never regrew their hair at all. So I think it does vary from person to person.

Hair regrowth after chemo... different color?

Although I know some people's hair regrows the same as it was before chemo, and others have a completely random other color... but, if my hair was thick, curly, and dark blonde before chemo, what would you guess the color and texture to be when it does

I lost some of my hair to radiation, none to chemo but my hair grew back just a little darker, a little thicker, a little wavier and no gray. So there's a spot right on top that has a little gray because I didn't lose any of that hair.

The color can and often does change, it could very well be bleached blonde. See attached link for more info.
