Getting the Most From Vitamins and Mineral Supplements

Q. Is one version of a vitamin or mineral supplement better than another? For example, what form of vitamin C is best absorbed? What about calcium? Are expensive vitamins more effective or safer?

A. There is no simple answer to these questions. The National Institutes of Health has a separate body, the Office of Dietary Supplements , devoted to studying such issues and advising the public as well as health professionals, who are in the best position to advise consumers.

Detailed fact sheets on individual vitamins and minerals give some idea of the issues involved.

For example, for vitamin C, the office advises that a recent study found no difference in levels of vitamin C in the blood or in excretion among three different sources: simple ascorbic acid, a branded combination product and ascorbic acid combined with bioflavonoids.

What is the best multivitamin for teenagers?

I am now 16 and still take flintstones..should I switch and what is a good one for teens?

Omega 3 - its the best one and it helps me to concentrate in class and better out of class as well.

Exercise, and a healthy diet should be good enough for any teenager.

Best multivitamin for teenagers?

I'm trying to live a healthier lifestyle, and I want to start with a vitamin. I'm thirteen years old, and I have terrible acne. Are there any vitamins that can help with acne? I would like the vitamin to be sort of cheap too... And available at Walmart,

Hmm.. I would suggest One A Day for teens. I am not sure about helping with acne, but I thinks it's a pretty complete vitamin and fairly cheap.
