YOUNG: Don't take away people's culture on Halloween

A popular costume that people have been pushing how creative they can be with is sugar skulls . I admit, the creations some makeup artists or amateurs come up with are beautiful, but sugar skulls are not costumes.

They’re not something to be worn in the manner they are by people who’re not of Mexican descent. They are a sacred part of Mexican culture for Día de los Muertos and should be treated and respected as such. I’m not Mexican, and I can’t dictate how Mexican people take part in their own culture. If you’re not Mexican, you have no right to take that part of that culture for your Halloween costume.

Appropriating something as sacred as sugar skulls is wrong not only because it’s appropriating culture, but also because sugar skulls are not used for Halloween. Día de los Muertos is November 1-2 and has indigenous roots. During this time, people decorate altars with candles, food, clothes and other things as offerings to honor those who’ve passed away.

Have any recommendations for a hair salon that cares for black hair in Fairfax, VA?

In particular, I'm looking for a reputable hair stylist who knows how to use a texturizer (not relaxer) tightly-coiled virgin hair to loosen the curl pattern and can maintain it. I haven't come across anyone in that area who has naturally coily hair in

yoyo

What would a texturizer do to relaxed hair ?

I want to have curly type hair like this ...

But I try putting in

a texturizer does nothing to relaxed hair except damage it even more. i know that transitioning takes a long time but its worth it at the end. you will have you own type of curl that you will love if your hair isnt the same texture as those pictures.
